Parent Soup
Hi there, it's Celticmom, otherwise known as Gayle. I am the board host for the Family Scrapbook board, found in the Around the House section of boards on Parent Soup. I also participate in other boards on the Soup, like the 30-something board, Travel board and I lurk around on some others, just looking at what people have to say!
As for me, I am a SAHM with two children, tho I also work out of the house on our family business. I grew up in Chicago and spent 35 years there before moving to the Western suburbs. It was quite a change for me, as urban as our area is!
I am involved in FEMALE, which stands for Formerly Employed Mothers at the Leading Edge. FEMALE is a national organization for moms, whether they are SAHMs or work inside or outside the home. It was founded in my town and is 11 years old now.
My son, Ian, is 11 years old and in sixth grade. This makes me eligible for the Surviving Middle School Board on Parent Soup. My daughter, Catriona, is 4 and enjoying preschool very much. Dress up is her favorite thing to do!
My husband collects police patches and together we collect and trade Hard Rock pins from around the world. Check out our HRC Pin site and see what we have to trade. It's been a fun hobby and we have traded with people from all over the world!
We own a retail family business that specializes in Celtic Music (you know, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, etc.). It didn't just spring up with the rise of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. We have been in business for over 12 years. In fact, the first official festival we sold at, I was pregnant with my son! See, it really is a family business. I also love to Scrapbook, which is why I'm the host of the Scrapbook board. I just started this Spring and am finishing up my first two books, one is a gift! I look for scrapbooking supplies every chance I get!
I've recently found an auction site that is free that I always have used items on. It's a site that caters to mothers and families and is just perfect if you are looking to save some money or get rid of some outgrown items.
